Tokyo Tower 11/2002
Today we go to Tokyo Tower in the downtown metropolis. This resembles the Eiffel Tower in Paris, except that it is fluorescent orange. It is one of the first things I remember seeing from the plane when I set down in Tokyo's Haneda Airport for the first time in 1976. My plane had to land in Haneda, because Narita Airport did not exist yet. When these pictures were taken, Tokyo Tower was adorned with scaffolding for some kind of repairs or repainting. Wouldn't want that lovely hue to fade!
These pictures were taken from the middle deck of the tower. I have never been to the top, because it is too crowded and costs the price of an additional ticket, but will get there someday.
I really wanted to take a picture of my favorite Docomo Building (It is the tall building that looks kind of like the Empire State Building.) from Tokyo Tower, as this was an angle that I have not shot from yet.
Also got the Rainbow Bridge over Tokyo Bay. This bridge will take you out to Ariake, a new area of reclaimed land, on a computer driven train. I usually make an annual pilgrimage out there to see the Tokyo Toy Show. If the sky had been clear over the mountains to the (out of the lens) left of the Docomo Bld. I could have gotten a shot of Mt. Fuji, but unfortunately, it was not available for viewing on that day.
I did get a snap of it from a moving train a couple of days later....not the best, but better than nothing.
The following pictures were taken at a temple next to Tokyo Tower.

The last two pics? Are they a special burial ground or just a place to pray??
@LifeNeedsProtection - It might be a both, in a way. From my experience, pinwheels are usually placed to placate the spirits of miscarried or aborted infants. I liked the colors, but it actually might be pretty depressing.
