Christmas 2002 #2
Just wanted to drag everyone along to where we always get out Christmas cake, the Cozy Corner Cake Shop. This is a very good place where you can get expensive goodies as well as 100 yen cream puffs, eclairs and puddings. I got there early before the line was too long, because I know by experience that things get crowded and the selection decreases as the hours wane!
Went in search of Mt. Fuji on Sunday. The weather was wonderfully clear and we should have been able to see it, but as the proper observatory was closed, I could not find a decent angle. There are many skyscrapers in Shinjuku, and they were either in the way or had their observatories (if they had one) pointed in the wrong direction! I looked ALL AFTERNOON and walked all over Shinjuku, and finally found a picture.
I got into one of the Takashimaya (Times Square - yep, the Japanese imitate everything!!) department store elevator with glass on the wall that faces outside, and lo and behold, there was Mt. Fuji peeking out from between two tall buildings! I made several trips between the basement and the 14th floor and took a jillion pictures, but for all but this one, the stupid camera focused on the glass and not the mountain! I hate it when that happens!!!! You may have to change the screen angle (or you own angle if you are looking at a desktop) to be able to see Mt. Fuji, as it is rather faint. I had to dim the picture a bit to make it show up at all. It was really unmistakably Mt. Fuji!! I will try to do better...... Anyway, I got my exercise and did enjoy the challenge.
Another event... Godzilla decided to show up on front of Takashimaya Department Store.
