One of my favorite Japanese foods is Indian Curry! Hub was in Tokyo on business last night, so I visited the local curry shop behind Daiei. These are more pictures from 2003, and this restaurant was located not far from our old place in Takadanobaba. It is no longer there, as these small shops frequently come and go. Speaking of going, I lost a filling last night. Anybody know a good dentist in Fukuoka in nearby where I live? I would be more than delighted if they would just slap the filling back in for me, but I fear that it might be chipped on one side, making it advisable to just replace the whole thing. I hate it when that happens.
It is about lunchtime in Tokyo, and here is a lovely place to dine! The name of the place is Asian Magic in Takadanobaba, the old neighborhood. This small restaurant is run by Indians who produce authentic native dishes, all delicious.
We can choose from a variety of different curries to go with the "nan" bread that is baked before your eyes in a tandoor, an oven that opens from the top.
Your cook pats out the dough and then stretches it out by swinging it back and forth. The process kind of reminds me of Italian pizza without the spin and toss show.
A few minutes stuck on the inner wall of the tandoor and out pops the fresh nan, ready to dip into your butter chicken curry (I took the liberty of ordering for you....)!!
