Mendokoro
Here are some pictures from last week's brief trip to Kagoshima. The first bunch is from a place called "Mendokoro" which is a nice reasonable place within walking distance of Grandma's house. We always seem to end up there for one meal every time we go to Kagoshima. There are tables, tables on tatami mats and private rooms. The owner of the restaurant seems to be giving the place a gradual going over decorwise, and each time we go, I notice improvements. The paneling, the lighting, the music and the posters and tin signs on the wall all give one the impression of being back in the 1950's. Good old days filled with hard work or bad old days trying to recover from war, I am not sure which, but it is a very comfortable time slip. Later in 2014 - Mendokoro moved quite a ways up the road and is no longer accessable on foot. The building is now a ramen Shop.
Here is one of the three private rooms in the back. It is all very homey.
I took this from the entrance of Mendokoro. The focus would have been better had I used a flash, but I did not really want to do that and disturb the diners.
This is another shot from a different angle.
