After getting Bachan back in her own home we headed back to Hub's place in Fukuoka. There was a shrine festival going on, so we decided to explore the city a bit. I am sorry, I don't remember the name of the shrine since I don't really have my bearings at the new place yet. Anyway, there are four Torii gates leading to the shrine.
This is the outermost gate located on the seashore. That is the ocean under the blue bridges. Now walk towards the ocean under the gate and turn around.
With the ocean at our backs we are ready to proceed to the shrine.
Here is the second Torii gate. Let's cross the street and take a look at some of the booths. It is sprinkling, so the crowds are thin.
Here is a variation on the typical goldfish scoop - catching Nemo!
And the Jaws department for those wanting a bit more excitement. I believe that the sharks can be fished out by the magnets on their heads.
These colored rice balls on a stick were rather pretty.
Here, take one!
Choco bananas are always yummy!
This mask is a good choice for a little princess.
These 500 yen pretty plastic twirlies remind me of Christmas icicles, but I can get the same thing at the 100 yen shop.
Here is the third Torii gate. Follow the instructions of the gendarmes to cross the street safely.
The last gate is in view, and so is the shrine building. Did I mention that it's close to the airport?
More tomorrow...

The rice on a stick are pretty but I would love to have one of those bananas. Thanks for sharing the pics.
Love the pics!
Fairs are just about the same where ever you go, huh? Just a few differences. Glad you stopped by.
ryc: haha! actually I grew up where we calling everything a Coke. As in, "Do you want to go get a Coke?" or "What kind of Coke do you want?" or if you want to get really Texan you can say, "I was fixin' to go get me a Coke. Ya'll wanna come?"
