I noticed during this trip that our TKO fridge is probably on its last legs. The freezer is not keeping things frozen. The thing is 17 years old, and maybe it is time for it to be put out of its misery as long as we are here. A new one has been ordered, but cannot be delivered until Tuesday. Dotter will have to oversee the delivery.
Later: I cleaned out the "freezer" a bit and found out that quotation marks are definitely in order. There were a couple of rotting fish, rotting chicken and rotting squid legs of which the garbage disposal is not doing a very good job disposing. They just keep going around and around.
Today a spring wind called "Haru Ichi Ban" blew in. This is kind of like a ground hog declaring the end of winter. But my goodness, this wind kicked up so much sand and dust the sky was brown. Yuck. You couldn't walk around outside with your eyes open. The wind has either died down or all the dust has been blown to Kingdom Come, because the sky has returned to being blue.
And here'zan awful story from the news: A 70-year-old Iranian man was arrested and sentenced to four months in jail and 30 lashes for walking his dog, Adnkronos.com reported Tuesday. Police caught the man on the street with his dog in Shahr Rey, a suburb of Tehran. Owners of domestic animals are forbidden from taking them on the streets of the city because Islam considers dogs to be impure. An Islamic judge later charged the man for "disturbing the public order,” Adnkronos.com reported. Despite repeated warnings by the police, dog owners continue to defy authorities by taking their dogs outside their homes. Typical punishment for people caught with dogs outside is a fine or the "detention" of their animals in a pound, Adnkronos.com reported.
