Nokonoshima
Today we took the ferry from Fukuoka City to a nearby island, Nokonoshima, to see what we could see. From the ferry, one gets on a bus and goes to the opposite side of the island, the site of a beautiful flower park.
I am a sucker for living things. Here are five of them above our heads at the ferry dock.
Here comes our ferry.
All Aboard!
Chugging over to Nokonoshima Island
Ready to disembark and get on the bus to the other side of the island?
See, I told you it was lovely! The ladies at the visitor center are making announcements that the sea hawks are eyeing everyone's picnic lunches from on high, and please don't encourage them by flinging bits of lunch into the air.

There was also a bunny petting area, but the bunnies were only interested in edible interaction.
Don't touch me!

There were goats as well, but the only decent picture that I got is indecent and will have small children asking embarassing questions, so I can't put it up. I had an altercation with some stupid people who seemed to think it was all right to feed the goats tissue when there were proper goat snacks provided in a vending machine. I was kind of appalled, but the fellow who was passing the tissues out to other people to feed to the goats stated that he had seen tissue given to goats as standard fare in zoos and that it was perfectly all right. I had made my point, and did not bother arguing with him, as testosterone tends to boil over when male idiotic behaviour is challenged.
These were nice. I may get some if we go again.
Fukuoka City as seen from Nokonoshima
Time to head for the ferry back. What are these folks doing?
It's low tide, and they are digging for little clams.
Another view of Fukuoka
All Aboard!!

I'm glad you are enjoying Golden Week. The pictures should be worth waiting for
WOW!!!!!!!!!!! These are just gorgeous. How blessed you are to be in such a beautiful area. This must be the silver lining to some dark clouds. America is beautiful too but I have rarely seen such sights here. Maybe we have them and I have not made the effort to see them.
@Gramcface - I think that much work was put into the flower gardens to attract tourists, and they did a really good job! This place is worth "going somewhere" again when different flowers are blooming.
