  • I am in Kagoshima right now remembering why I hate Internet cafe keyboards.  They are covered with a silicon sheet for "safe typing" or some such purpose, which makes it impossible to type normally withoug making misteaks.  Grandma went for her eye exam, and I will head back to Fukuoika tomorrow afternoon.  I realllly hate this keybored.  The computer booths are also equipped with bucket seats which make decent ergonomic posture imposturable.

    Office Bad Day

It was horribly hot yesterday.  The sun beats down the 90 degree heat which is reflected back up by the hot pavement, so even with a parasol (yes, I started using one a few years back) you still get baked to death.  I had to weed Grandmaz garden, so I did that at 8 AM this morning (redundant?) before the sun started beating down.  Good idea.  I later put poison around certain trees in the garden which caterpillars have been commanded not to eat.  They don't listen, so I am sorry to have to make some consequences.  Hub had put poison down last month, and there were a whole lot of crispy critters laying on the cement around the house - I wonder if it was the poison or the sun that did them in.moth caterpillar

I have never seen more beautiful butterflies.  Their bodies are neon blue.  But the Kiobiedashaku larvae are so destructive that the Kagoshima City home page has instructions about how to get rid of them.  There are so many of these around that when the butterflies are done in that they can be swept into small piles like leaves.  We were out of the poison, so I asked a neighbor where it was sold and picked some up.  I had to knock down endless webs of various thread producing beasties (the courtesan spiders are starting to do their thing - they are still small, but will be nice and fat by autumn) to get back to the trees in question, and had caterpillars falling out of my hair when I met a neighbor on the street later.  She didn't complain when I stomped on them.  These pictures of the culprits at various stages in their life cycle are from the K. City home page.

It looked like rain during the late afternoon when I left Grandma's facility after visiting her, so before heading to Kagoshima Central Station and this here computer I decided to go back up the hill to her house to take in the laundry that I had left out, so now that I made the trip especially to take the laundry in it will probably not rain.  That is how the world works for me sometimes.  Had I left the laundry out we would have been flooded, I'll bet.

Ok, I am off to get some supper and then head back to Grandmaz house where I stay when I visit her at the facility.  She keeps wondering when she can go back home, but I am afraid it is impossible for her to live alone anymore, even with helpers coming to check up on her.
