You Tube Yamakasa
Here are some videos of yesterday's Yamakasa from You Tube of scenes that I didn't see.
This is the start point in Kushida Shrine. The men compete to see who can get their team's float around the pole in the best time. Yep, real men wear shimekomi!
A larger float is being carried here. This is not for competition, only for show. I hear that all of the floats used to be this size before the advent of power lines. The floats actually carried nowadays are shorter and safer versions.
