8/9/2008 from Banchan's veranda
These were taken from the second floor of Bachan's house. We had her home for a day, but she was tired and spent most of the time napping. The greenery around her property had really outdone itself in profusion, and we cut back another six bags full. I put down another dose of moth killer around the effected trees and hedges, but had to do quite a bit of hacking away of weeds to be able to get to the base of the hedge bushes. The poison must be working, because the leaves are starting to grow back. I did the morning work in the rain and got wet, but being wet from rain smells better than soggy with sweat.
They were having fireworks in Tarumizu across Kinko Bay. I tried using a zoom on these since they are far away.
This is a shot of the new shopping center where I escape to when I have a chance. I can get there in about 20 minutes on foot. See the neon knife and fork behind the bowling alley? They have a Starbucks, a very nice book store, a big 100 Yen shop and a delicious Indian curry place. Civilization in Usuki! Who would have believed it??
