I had some business downtown on Thursday, namely, we needed to do some business for Grandma and did not know what name stamp she uses for that particular account, so I stamped all the stamps on a piece of paper and told the bank to pick out the right one for me. They did, and we can proceed. On the way back home I passed by the castle moat and discovered that some men in a skiff were clearing the moat of the lotus plants that had been growing there since spring.
Apparently I was not the only one who found the scene interesting. Another couple of young fellas with a very nice camera were taking pictures as well. I asked them if they were from NHK (Japanese BBC) or something and they said they were!
I had been wanting some of the seed pods growing in the moat, and would have been happy with one. There were several floating on the edge of the moat within my reach, so I was happy to fish them out. The man in the nearby hot dog van suggested that I ask the men for some of the pods that they had collected, which were very nice and still had stems. I told him that it really wasn't necessary, but he ran on ahead to where the boat was and asked the workers, who were glad to let me and anyone else who wanted the pods (long stems still attached) to take them. Wow! I had only wanted one, and was able to bring home all that I could carry! Is God like that, too? We ask him for just one and would be happy if He lets us scrape one up for ourselves, and he still gives abundantly beyond what we ask!
If anyone in Tokyo has some free time on Saturday go to Tower Records in Shibuya for a great 3:00 Alter Bingo live show!!
