  • Chuchu is eating (and pooping) again, so we are very relieved.  I told dotter to take him to the vet again today just in case.  He has been getting shots to stimulate movement in his intestine.  The poops are not full size yet, so I am not totally ready to declare a total cure.    I also told her to get pet insurance!  This was expensive!!  ANY bunny sickness is an emergency, because they don't show there is something wrong until they are at death's door in many cases.  Little dummies.

The human operation also went well.  Thank you for your prayers.

  • "Little dummies" I had to laugh at that one. I know the feeling. I have had little birdies, bunnies and hamsters that all like to hide any sign of illness for as long as they can. Glad to hear the bunny is eating and pooping. Good idea to have a cre-check if the poops aren't nice and big and round yet.

  • @Sparkling_Rainbow - You know well of which you speak!  No, the poops are not quite up to standard "good poop" size yet, which is why I also advised a recheck today, especially because Chuchu's mommy has to work this weekend.  Birdies...  in many cases there is not much that can be done for them.  We have had Jungurian (sp?) hamsters too, (noisy birds flinging feathers, stinky hamsters because sonny B was away at school and didn't smell them and destructive bunnies that I let roam the house anyway all in the same pile of cages)  and they were brothers who lived for about two years.  They developed growths in their mouths that the vet said was cancer.  But the fights they started having with each other were more dangerous than the cancer.  We had to separate them so the wouldn't kill each other.  During the first stages of the conflict they would squeak at each other, but later they would just meld into a single furball of hatred and teeth.  Woe to any finger that tried to separate them!  Ouch, splat - dropped Hammy after he removed his incisors from my damaged digit.  We had to separate them after one got an infected bite on his stomach.  The vet gave him a little teeeeeeeny shot.  They got out one night in sonny B's room and he came and woke me up because he couldn't find them after they ran over his face.  We went in his room, turned the lights out and waited, and pretty soon Hammy and Spammy told us where they were with a bit of rustling here and there.  Yep, little dummies for sure!
