Yesterday's experience was rather unreal, but I was very thankful that things proceeded smoothly. It reminded me of the first time I ate tofu. It was just something that I had not experienced before and have no idea how to process it. I certainly don't need to see any bones for awhile. No matter how many flowers decorate the graves and no matter how much chanting is done in the new temple building, now I know what is in there.
I woke up with a headache, but we had to take Bachan for her stomach exam. She was upset because she thought that we were all going to do the endoscope thing when it was only her. I just hope they didn't find anything nasty down there. We will know in a week or so. The anesthetic gets her exhausted, so we took her back to the home for a rest. She made it clear in the return taxi that she doesn't want to do it ever again, but I seriously doubt as to whether she will get her wish, poor thing.
Lunch didn't happen until 2:00 at a local greasy chopstick. There was some cloth tape on the counter of which had moldered away leaving a profusion of curly threads. Puleeuz!! I mean, it must have taken quite bit of time for things to reach that state. It was quite memorable and I don't think I will be going back.
We went back to the house, and the headache was worse, so I spent the rest of the day on the sofa. Aspirin doesn't touch this kind of headache. There was a 4:00 meeting scheduled with the nursing home staff and hubby was kind enough to let me out of it. He came back and said that it seems that Grandma has gone downhill in the last month and may do better in a smaller "group home" if a place can be found. It is all too bad, but there is only so much that can be done to keep her going, and realistically that cannot be done forever. I suppose that for everyone it is only a matter of time. I don't mean to be depressing. That is reality in a fallen world.
I did feel better in the evening, so we went out to the only decent restaurant in the neighborhood, good old "Satsuma Mendokoro."
