  • Back to Fukuoka today  wish I could stay longer in Tokyo, as there are issues to be dealt with, but it is God who arranges the schedule.  We are lucky enough to have free Kabuki tickets in the second row, so it is off the the matinee performance and then to the airport.

    Kabuki

Later:  Ok, we went to this lovely classic performance about how an ambitious plotter gets the lord of the manor drunk enough to believe untrue accusations against his concubine and kill her.  Then her brother gets drunk and storms the manor and the lord apologizes and gives the family money as an apology.  The poster shows the poor sister trying to defend herself and the drunken brother swinging a small wooden sake keg as a weapon.  The actual acting and staging are interesting, but what awful stories.  It reminds me of Italian opera.
