  • This continues to keep me thinking.

I have changed this to a protected post to keep innocent eyes away from content that they are probably not ready to read.

Never at any time in the history of any civilization has the possibility of marriage between the same sex been recognized.  This is a dangerous barrier to cross.  This is the end of civilization.

Perez and Dennis Prager discuss issues on Larry King live.

(Further edit:  After taking a glance at the latest musical offerings on Hilton's website, I certainly would not want any children around him.  Is this really the kind of thing that he wants to do with the "equality" to which he claims entitlement?  (The name of his song is "My Penis," and he invites people to suck it.)  This does not look like a person sincerely seeking a relationship with a "significant other."  Hilton is disgusting, and is not a positive spokesman for any cause.  He claims freedom to state his opinions by creating and displaying flamingly disgusting "art" yet denies another the right to express an opinion that he does not agree with.  Where is the "equality" that he espouses?  The same laws of free speech that protect his indecent song protect Carrie Prejean's statement of her opinion.  Hilton displays that he is nothing but a crude, nasty person on several levels.  Who was it who won the contest again? Miss Prejean is getting more publicity than she would have had she won the crown.  Hilton's next big story will probably be that he has AIDS and that we should all feel sorry for him.  I don't wish it on him, but it would not surprise me given his chosen life style.  I am finished giving this fellow any more attention.)

(Edit:  Let's assume that God is really doing something here, and not answer Perez Hilton with hate.  Let's all pray that God would work mightily in Perez's life as a result of this.  Show LOVE, not hate!  As much as I disagree with what happened, let's remember God is powerful enough to do anything He chooses to do and use anyone that He chooses to use to accomplish anything he wants to accomplish to His glory.)

The Miss USA Pageant was thrown into an uproar over this?  Why are Miss Prejean's comments controversial, and what has happened to free speech in America?  Why would Perez Hilton be allowed to ask such a politically and morally loaded question?  And why should honesty take a back seat to the clear political agenda of a minority?

Miss California Carrie Prejean made her controversial comments on Sunday night's show.

I consider her comments as normal.  That was the way she was raised.  This "controversy" is being manufactured by the media who wants to ram the homosexual agenda down the throats or the majority who may not necessarily agree with it.

Miss North Carolina Kristen Dalton was crowned Miss USA on Sunday, but the big story to come out of the normally politics-free telecast was Miss California's comments regarding gay marriage.

Miss Prejean did not introduce the politics into the pageant.  Perez Hilton did!  He knew exactly what he was doing, and he did not care a whit about the victim of his politics.  He wronged her twice in that he purposely put Miss Prejean in a difficult position with what he knew was a volatile question and then left her to hang in the left wing media wind when she bent over backwards to give a non-offensive, honest answer.

When asked by judge Perez Hilton, an openly gay gossip blogger, whether she believed in gay marriage, Miss California, Carrie Prejean, said "We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite. And you know what, I think in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that's how I was raised."

Keith Lewis, who runs the Miss California competition, tells FOXNews.com that he was "saddened" by Prejean's statement.

"As co-director of the Miss California USA, I am personally saddened and hurt that Miss California believes marriage rights belong only to a man and a woman," said Lewis in a statement. "I believe all religions should be able to ordain what unions they see fit. I do not believe our government should be able to discriminate against anyone and religious beliefs have no politics in the Miss California family."

Miss Prejean made no mention of religion.  She even put in a "no offense" disclaimer.  She factually said that in her family she was raised to believe that marriage is between a man and a woman and that's all she said.  How else was she supposed to answer the question if that was her true experience??  Is she supposed to deny reality for Perez Hilton's political agenda?  She does not go into the source of her family's values, which could very well have been religious, but it could also have been tradition or common sense.  Her comment should not be extrapolated to include something that was not said.  Lewis is introducing religion into the discussion when it was not there for the purpose of knocking it down.  He says that religion has no place in politics, yet he is the one who introduced the issue of religion, not Miss Prejean.

This is a beauty pageant, right?  This is not about politics.  Again, Lewis introduces an issue that was not there.  He is the one who is politicizing Miss Prejean's statement.  This is not about government or discrimination by any government.  Why is the issue blown up to include government?

Personally saddened and hurt by Miss Prejean's beliefs?  I thought anybody was allowed to believe what they wanted nowadays, and that truth was relative.  Why should Lewis be "hurt" by the belief of another if he thinks that we should all be able to believe what we want?  He can't have it both ways.  He demands tolerance but will not grant it to those who disagree with him.  Upon what basis does he decide that one belief is more important than another?  What has happened to free speech in America?  Ironically, it is the Judeo-Christian ethic that he spits on that has granted him the right of free speech.

Lewis also says that all religions should be able to ordain whatever unions they choose.  He pretends to offer a choice when what he really means is that all religions should have to choose to ordain homosexual "marriage."  If Lewis is actually offering a choice then he would also have to say that religions should also be able to ordain or refuse to ordain whatever unions they choose.  "Choice" becomes a matter of "you must choose to agree with me," and is actually no choice at all, as is evident in the case of the unfair treatment of Miss Prejean.  I applaud her honesty, and boos for those who would disallow it.  She has won something far more important than a beauty pageant crown.  God help America.

Perez Hilton called Miss Prejean a "dumb bitch" (an unprofessional statement for a judge to make) after the pageant because she did not give the answer that he wanted, which would have been "let the states decide for themselves."  Didn't Perez notice that California decided against homosexual "marriage?"  He says he believes in democracy yet refuses to accept the people's vote.  Miss Prejean had her principles and stated them more than graciously, and Hilton responded in a rude, hateful manner because he considered Miss Prejean's answer as intolerant.  What a childish hypocrite.  He said on Larry King's show that he thinks that Miss USA is responsible to represent everyone and uphold political correctness, and that Miss Prejean's comments were divisive.  He said that she should have danced around the question.  With that statement he sweeps aside anyone's right to adhere to personal beliefs, which is the height of intolerance, and not what America used to be about.  Hilton is discriminating based on religion.  If his question is one that must be danced around then it should not have been asked, and shame on those in charge of the contest for approving it.  Hilton and the the pageant sponsors demanded that Miss Prejean be a sheep that falls in line and bleats whatever agenda is being forced on people who may not agree.  If this is what is required of the winner, Hilton did Miss Prejean a favor by closing this door for her.

It seems that Mess Prejean's faith did indeed have something to do with her answer.  She has said that she had prayed that she would not be asked about homosexual "marriage," but that is exactly the question that she got.  Applause to her for passing the test when it came.

  • Yeah, she kinda got hosed, but I really liked her answer. I was expecting something else when I watched the YouTube clip earlier today. Props to her for what she said.

    God bless,

  • @gelatinemonkey - I don't think that what she said was strong enough, actually.  Like I said, she was bending over backwards not to offend - "I think it's great that we have a choice..."  No, we don't have a choice.  No one is free to redefine what God has said.

  • @usalapinhazzer -

While I agree with your statement, I think the way she did it is one of the *first* times I'm seeing people who are for gay marriage (because they don't care) backing her over Perez or the media. There are a ton of people on YouTube and Xanga here who are actually somewhat FOR what she said, and not hating on her for it simply because she stated it.

Yes, as Christians we shouldn't compromise and we need to let people know where we stand; however, we're also called not to make the Gospel any more offensive than it already is. Too often those against gays get bashed right and left by anyone and everyone else. Her response is leaving a large number of people who feel differently from Christians with the first positive image of "one of us" ina long time, and also showing how much the media skews these things. I think her response was a huge win, personally.

    God bless,

  • @gelatinemonkey - I suppose it was that she said she thinks it's great that people have a choice, but that she was personally against it.

  • one blogger mentioned the "debate"   What debate?  I mean, "what is your OPINION"?  IF ONLY we COULD have a debate on  the miss USA thing.   I mean, IF ONLY thought were important.  but no. Only opinons.  Perhaps they should hand out sheets with the PC opinions, and only allow those.

Hope many SEE  your points well taken.

  • I applaud Miss CA. for standing firmly to what she believes. Perez asked her a question and she answered it. plain and simple, Why the left seems so miffed by this is beyond me it is not new the stance that we Christians have on marriage. I think they are just grandstanding.
