  • We didn't see it in Tokyo.

    eclipse09

Japan was all excited about this eclipse, but the weather in much of Japan was cloudy or rainy.  What could be seen was broadcast on TV, but I felt sorry for all of the shutterbugs who went through the trouble and expense of camping out on various and sundry southern islands and then having nothing to photograph except darkness.  When interviewed they were trying to be mature, but I could see that under that smooth veneer they were less than happy.  It was supposedly partly visible in Tokyo, but the weather did not cooperate here, either, so it only got a bit dusky.

  • awww..

(secretly: bwahaha they didn't get to see it either)

I don't think solar eclipses like the U.S. very much, the next solar eclipse that'll be visible in U.S is in 2012 -___-

  • I remember observing a total eclispe when I was in elementary school. We all made special veiwers so we wouldn't damage our eyes. There have been a couple of partial eclipses since then but the weather was uncooperative. I think I've seen more lunar eclipses.

  • @tkperito - That must have been spectacular!  At least with lunar eclipses you don't have to worry about your eyes!  I remember a partial eclipse in New York, maybe I was in junior high, but never a total eclipse.
