From July 26
Yesterday's "go somewhere" was to Dazaifu to the museum. It was a good thing that we went yesterday, because overnight it rained so hard that there was a landslide that blocked the road to Dazaifu, so the museum was closed today. We go by train so it doesn't matter anyway. Today's "go somewhere" was the municipal museum in Fukuoka which is within walking distance. On the way we checked out the river that is less than a minute from our house, and it was pretty high. This river is affected by the ocean tides, so we were hoping that the incoming high tide did not coincide with the outgoing foot or more of rain that had fallen overnight. We had another look at the river on the way back home, and it had gone down to acceptable levels of non-scariness.
Let's walk from our place 20 seconds to the river. This is all reclaimed land, and the river channel runs into the sea near that tall building, JAL Hotel. Let's head for the bridge in the distance.
I have never seen such soggy ducks. I think they were trying to dry off because they were to wet to fly.
Hmmm... The red "warning" indicator is barely visible beneath the surface, but it is ok, because we still have a bit to go before yellow "danger."
A view from the previously mentioned bridge. We live on the right side of the river. Ummm... we got a few things off the floor before we left for the museum.
