  • Karasu Uri

These were taken in our Tokyo neighborhood.  On the left is the flower of a plant called "karasu uri" which translates as "crow gourds."  The flower blooms in the evening.  I have tried to grow this in a pot, but without much success.  The fruit is on the right, and is about two inches long.  I don't think they are edible, but then again, I never tried because there is really not much to eat.  The seeds look like tiny croissants.
