From August 24
Sakurajima, the local active volcano in Hubby's town was acting up and spewing ash hither and yon. See that gray cloud on the right? It is blowing our way, so prepare to get gritty.
Sakurajima a few minutes later, putting out so much ash that you can't see the mountain. This is all going to settle on the city.
Volcanic ash doesn't melt, but the city has a way of dealing with it. Sweep it up and put it into the designated "ash bags" and leave it for collection in the neighborhood garbage collection area. Behold bags of ashes.

That ash cannot be good for anyone's lungs. I hope that folks wear masks when the volcano is active. Sweeping the ash up to put in bags must be hazardous to a person's health.
@Gramcface - Dat is what is aaaaallllll over the garden. Falls on your head when you cut things above and stirs up around your feet when you whack the weeds. They need a good rain down there. Turns yer boogers black for sure. Really hate it when that happens, and told Aki this is NOT a good time to air out the house.
Interesting. Not something you think of unless you have to deal with it!
How often does that happen?
