  • October 18 - Home in TKO

Some folks came from the fire station to demonstrate their equipment and teach about safety.

They taught us that if you live above the 10th floor you are out of luck!  Glad we don't live that high up.

Just don't lick the lens, ok?

I should have known better than to point a camera at the animals first thing in the morning.  Who raised them, anyhow?

  • CUTE! asked husband re bowing u tube....his comments were sparse. but I think mixed. my intuition/feeling was initial embarrassment. He has been in states long time. Kind of like Mishima in thinking Japan should not be a wimp. But also, old gentleman like feelings of dignity, etiquette. He realized the satire, but seemed complelxed about it ( new word there) Those NOT in Japan oft become MORE japneses! oh well.

  • @ANT_L - Is that your picture?  It looks really nice!  I only put that You Tube thing up because so many people were upset about what Obama did and said he was apologizing and being subservient.  I wanted them to see what a really subservient bow looked like even if it was mixed with satire.  Is that Mishima in Yukio Mishima the author?  My husband thinks the fellow was a total genius, but I don't care much for him, myself, and I may have kids reading this so I won't elaborate.

  • yes, it was timely and I realize WHY you did it, but it was also interesting for me to see.  I told him it was in a similar vein to saturday night live - a satirical commentary on society.  but ....as he is an ex pat, made him think.  I really liked it!

Yes, my photo.  blogging more in other places, use xanga to export to facebook these days...so a good change.  But I will change again, a more dynamic one I think.

Yes, Yukio.   I have loved his writings, but couldn't take too much.  The movie Mishima was a genius of collaboration of many, but too too sad and awful to watch.  he led a very difficult life.  have you ever seen "the ballad of narayama"?   the newer one.   I LOVE it.  But no one else wants to see it!   talk about difficult, hard to take, etc.  Stoicism to the max.  Yet.....endurance, and living for others, and something better emerging.  a growing up sort of.  Reminds me of Mishima in a different way.  Husband only reads business etc.  Or maybe heroic bio.   he embodies a certain slice of quintessential Japanese ness.

reminds me of Gabriel Garcia Marquez.   amazing writier.  Content from hell.  what to do?  it is like this philosophy of art that says anything goes.  portray "reality"   I prefer to help build a culture of heart ....   but learning the details, and the ways of expressions is important too.  so I like these guys.

    (((hugs)))
