2010/7/3 Visiting Sonny in Chiba
Dotter was going to Fukuoka for a spell, and we needed a parakeet sitter for Tetsie. Sonny B was elected, so we brought Tetsie over to his bachelor digs in Chiba. As we got into a taxi to go to his place, Sonny B tells the driver, "Open the trunk," intending to put Tetsie in there! Hey, it is midsummer and a bit warm! Sonny B, how about if YOU get in the trunk! Tetsie managed to survive his time with Sonny B and even picked up a Chiba accent from the local bird population. It looks like he has no problem keeping his kitchen neat.I like the way the trumpet collection is arranged against the wall.
We are heading out to see a local attraction, the big shrine at Narita.I just made these close ups because Sonny B needed a portrait for some live show program.Heading down a quaint road on the way to our destination.Hey, look out! Here comes a car!!
Hey, you idiot, whaddya think this is, a feeway?
We made it to the shrine gate in one piece.
Enter the gate and pass by the rows of stone lanterns and up the stairs.
Inside the second gate is a fancy painted pagoda.
This is the main shrine building.
This is the inside of the shrine, and I am probably not supposed to be taking pictures, but I will sneak one anyway. I think there was glass over the entrance, because there is a reflection. There are no Buddist images in shrines, but if anything, mirrors representing the sun god.
Another view of the pagoda
Here you can see the brightly painted underside of the roof.
Heading back down the stairs on the way out.
There are a few turtles in the pond at the bottom of the stairs.
Here we are heading back through the main gate and out.
