July 10, 2010 Nagashima Museum
Today's "Go Somewhere" is the Nagashima Museum in Kagoshima, in which is housed yet more ceramics! We took enough pictures of the stuff to print out our own museum catalogue, but I will only include the best stuff here. I don't remember the entire day's schedule, but we probably went to visit MIL in the morning and then took in the museum in the afternoon. We didn't want to haul all our stuff to the museum as we will be coming back to Kagoshima Central Station to catch the bullet train back to Fukuoka this evening, so we left it in a coin locker and went downstairs for some lunch.
Up the escalator into the station, and stuff is now left in a coin locker. Time for lunch.
Before heading off to the museum, we had lunch at Kagoshima Central Station. Some of the delicacies served there include Pork Wazzeeka (Kagoshimian for Awesome) over rice and a dessert called Shirokuma, or Polar Bear.
Shirokuma is shaved ice with condensed milk and fruit.

Now we catch a taxi to the museum.

Turn to the left to see the Kagoshima City. The weather is not cooperative today, so we can't see the volcano.
Did I mention that this is a ceramic museum? There was so much that photos don't do the place justice.

These cutouts must be very hard to make!
I might have liked to have brought these home with me!
We went back to the station by taxi, picked up our luggage and then headed back to Fukuoka.
