  • Don't Let it Snow!

There has been all kinds of crummy white stuff falling out of the sky all day, and of course no shoveling has been done by anyone. I went out and did my share this morning, and would like to think that I did not totally waste my time, but whatever I dug out is probably buried again. If snow is not promptly shoveled away it freezes and the entire metropolis becomes a giant, lumpy skating rink.

Speaking of snow, the Olympic Opening Ceremony was on in the middle of the night here, so we recorded it and watched it the next day. The historical presentation part might have overlooked some of the difficult bits, but all in all I thought it was a pretty high level show. The Firebird ballet coronation scene music was perfect for the lighting of the flame! I also really liked that the participants were able to have seats and watch the show. What I liked best was that the whole thing did not degenerate into a stupid rock concert and maintained dignity until the very end. I also agree with Sonny B that there were jellyfish in Swan Lake. LOL

My Yamaha EC headjoint has arrived and it fits the flute! Gotta go and try it out! Many thanks to the wonderful mailman who delivered it in the middle of this stupid snowstorm. I am gonna love playing with this. Gotta go to eBay and leave some positive feedback for the seller. According to the late great Leonardo de Lorenzo, it takes an airstream of 75mph to play the flute

    SakurajimaJishingumo

I don't like the look of those clouds behind Sakurajima and over Kagoshima City. There is a fault running under the Ibusuki Line, and there is an eruption of the volcano expected sometime in the not so far future. On a side note, people are thinking about how to deal with an eruption of Mt. Fuji, too. Never a dull moment.
