Manners....
It just should not be so hard! I was in the supermarket and there was a kid old enough to know better squallering about something and demanding mom apologize for not giving him his own way. The squallering want on for an extendedededed time so I went over to observe. Mother was doing a lot of nothing so encourage dear little Sonny to behave, so as I passed them by I informed Sonny that his noise could be heard by everyone in the supermarket and that he should be quite embarrassed. Instant end of tantrum. Now is this not Mom's job and why didn't she do it herself?
As I was leaving the supermarked another kid was complaining that there were no bike parking spaces and I told him that I was leaving and that he could have mine. He started to put his bike into the space without saying anything, and I asked him if he had not forgotten something, and he did smile and say, "Thank you." Yes, that's all it takes.
