I had one of these Lassie toys, and my brother did, too. Didn't they notice that there were no back legs when they made them?
I had one of these, too. I was about to have a baby tooth pulled (or was it to have my tonsils out...), and we often got a present on such occasions. We were in a department store in downtown Schenectady and a few of these skunkies were lined up on the counter because some customer was making a selection. Just as little ole me wandered over for a glance at the row of skunks on the counter, the shop girl whisked them all away and put them back on a shelf behind the cash register where I couldn't see them. Somehow this broke my oversensitive little heart and I burst into tears. I did end up with a skunk that I treasured for many years, but in retrospect I wonder if I actually wanted it or if I was just upset by the shop girl's actions. Hey, I was trying to look at them, and she just took them away. Kids are important customers, too, maybe even more so than the parents.
