  • Grandma's Clock and China

Here is some information about my Grandmother's Noritake China. It was a wedding present, so I imagine that it is pre-war. I will bring the whole set back with me next year. Now the clock... John has expressed his sincere affection for the thing even if he doesn't even wind it up, and since I couldn't have that one, I got my own. (^-^) I understand that this clock was originally Mr. Washburn's (Grandma's second husband) and that she used to stick it in a closet at night, smothered with a pillow so that she was not kept awake by the bonging. I have discovered that one can slip a short straw over any of the winding rods to stop it at night.
