We are now at the old homestead in Usuki taking pictures for the last time. The folks next door have purchased the land and will probably tear down this house and rebuild. The picture below is taken from the second story veranda.

Now some pictures from inside. I turned Daddy loose with a camera to let him take his own pictures, as I had already taken pictures in September.

Notice the two empty spaces above the sliding doors. There were a couple of Yakusugi wooden panels there, which were removed and sent up to Tokyo in September. Thanks for the help, Cousin Sanae! I never could have gotten them down and packed up by myself.

This is the room where tea ceremony lessons were given.

The room below is right next to the tea ceremony room, and where Bachan slept and had her little closet.

This was a family living room of sorts, half tatami and half wooden flooring. It was next to the kitchen.

Above is the hallway seen from the kitchen. The two bathrooms and the entrance way were to the right.

Cousin Sanae and her husband Hiroshi - Sanae is a calligraphy expert and gave us a framed rendition of "Be thankful for a normal day." It is hanging in our front hall.

Next is a visit to the family grave and the folks in Hiwaki. Shuya continues his work all around the property. Above behold his secret hideout. There are no walls, so I suppose that not many secrets are kept there. Actually, Shuya is incapable of keeping a secret anyway, so this is just like him. LOL He has also build a very nice outdoor cat roost - not sure how many cats are hanging around. Maybe five or so?
