Okayama and Kurashiki
I was able to get to Okayama for a visit with the best friend that I made there. She is a great cook and this is wonderful scenery to behold! This cake is chocolate and saffron, with "air!" You can't get fat on air.
Below is our dinner - DELICIOUS!!
This is Tako Koen, or the Octopus Park, where all the kiddies used to play.
We made a trip to Kurashiki, a historical and tourist area. Here are some of the wares offered in one of the shops. Nicey Pricey!
The goldfish below was printed on a piece of a linen wall hanging. This came home with me as a treasure. Hubby doesn't need to know how much it was. Buy the art!
Street scenes from Kurashiki
These are a couple of scenes inside the restaurant where we had lunch. I forgot to take pictures of the lunch.
Above is a bean shop specializing in candied beans. I sampled enough of them that I didn't feel that I needed to take any more home. Below is a canal scene from Kurashiki.
Kurashiki is also famous for its glass products, but I didn't get any as we already have several pieces that we received when we lived in Okayama.
Random picture of a bride and groom posing with family members next to the canal
Black sesame ice cream is pretty good!
This kind of outside wall is typical of the Okayama area and is called Namako Kabe, or Sea Cucumber Walls. Below see a manhole from Kurashiki.
I want to get a bag like this with all the butterflies. Haru loves to play with an article of Mommy's clothing that looks like this.
The recipe for the DELICIOUS dish! I asked if we couldn't PLEASE have leftovers for lunch the next day.
I even had breakfast by candle light! It doesn't get any better!
"The Temptation of St. Anthony" is a picture that my daughter remembered and loved, and has been a big influence in all her crazy, wonderful little pictures.
