  • 友泉亭公園 Yuusentei Garden

Today's "go somewhere" was Yuusentei Garden.  It was originally constructed as a villa for Tsugutaka Kuroda, a feudal lord of Fukuoka, in the 6th century in Tamura village.  Here is a You Tube version, and then my pictures.

This is the entry to the villa which gives an immediate view of the garden.

Deck over the Pond - I dunno these peeps.

Taking pictures of carp being fed by peeps I dunno.

This is a charcoal ink painting with an interesting black "flower arrangement" of charred bamboo in a blackened bamboo vase.  Charcoal is supposedly very good to have around healthwise as it absorbs bad stuff in the air.

A teahouse on the premises that needs a bit of work on the roof, methinks.

The ladeez room with a fawncy wall made of recycled roof tiles

    DSC02699 800

Scenic waterfall - note the tree with the roots directly on the rock

The villa from a path around the grounds - Hey, what's that on the roof?

    DSC02711 800

    Looks like a faded mallard

    DSC02712 800

Nudder shot - dunno which one I like better

    DSC02716 800

    Keep walking around the pond

    DSC02719 800

    Nice wall

There is still a bit of time until the return bus comes, so I decided to splurge the 100 yen for some fish food of my own and instigated a feeding frenzy.

    Cute, huh?

The bus stop is next to the Hii river, which one could follow downstream to our place where it empties into the sea.  Hey, what is that oddly colored rock down there?  Zoooooooommm...

Now here is something I had not seen before.  In Japanese a koisagi, in Latin  a nycticorax nycticorax, in English a black crowned night heron.
