  • How stupid is this!?

This fellow was pulled aside and asked to change clothes at Heathrow airport because his T-shirt was deemed offensive.  Apparently they didn't like the fact that the imaginary robot was holding a cloth gun.  Perhaps they also should have checked to see if he was sporting dangerous nipple rings that could bring down the airplane, too.

    Transformer T-shirt

Does anyone else find it scary that a person can be pulled aside and detained for absolutely nothing??

  • Perhaps it was to teach him not to wear stupid looking clothing advertising his mental abilities.  What ever happened to giving some thought to the message sent by the billboard we wear on our bodies?  I find it scary that people give so little thought to how they look to others and have so little regard for themselves.  OOps, was that a rant?

  • @Gramcface - I could understand that a shirt with pornographic images or bad language would be offensive.  I also have little problem with scantily dressed ladies being asked to cover up.  But this was a cartoon robot with a cartoon gun.  Whether the shirt was fashionable or not is not my point.  My point is that now we can be pulled aside for nothing.  What if the man had been wearing a T-shirt with a Christian message and someone decided they found that offensive?  He could have been pulled aside for that.  Remember the airline stewardess who got in trouble because she wanted to wear a cross necklace during work?  Granted, people might give more thought to their appearance, but to me the issue is one of freedom.  If the guy wants to dress like that it is his business.  I am more disturbed by the precedent set that says people can now be persecuted for anything.
