From June 17-18
Trying to catch up on a backlog of pictures! These are from my last trip to Tokyo, and I wanted to try out my new camera on the bus from Haneda Airport to Chofu.
The part of Tokyo near Haneda Airport is largely reclaimed land, and boasts of many canals. Here is a sailing ship on display aground.
I just love this town!
I thought this tank truck made an interesting mirror.
We are approaching Shinjuku, and to the right is my favorite skyscraper, the Docomo Building. The building in front of us is the Gas Building.
More shots of the Docomo Building
We are now in Chofu and this is the corner of Koushu Kaido and Tsurukawa Kaido. There is a police box on the corner, in front of which Dotter fell off the back of my bike on her head the first time I had her riding on back. Poor kid. We used to live in the apartment complex behind the police box over 30 years ago. Looks pretty decrepit, huh? I think the buildings where we lived have at least been painted on the outside.
We are now in Kudanshita. The castle moat is a bit slimy.
The castle moat from the opposite direction, not quite so slimy. All of the trees are cherry trees, so this is a very picturesque place in the spring.
We have always wanted to stop in for a cuppa something at this quaint shop, but never find the time.
Above and below are things that we did not buy in Chofu.
Ok, I will confess to owning the small dalmatian and the black lab standing next to it.
