    Magic Flute

Glad to have been feeling better enough to get to Hatsudai's Opera City to see Mozart's Magic Flute.  We had gotten the tickets months in advance and I had to get my healthy act together.  The snake looked like something out of the Tremors movie series, which gave a good laugh to those of us who have seen the movies. The part where Monostatus's henchmen cheer and carry him off the stage for a few well deserved lashes was funny, too.  They disliked M just as much as we did.  The Queen of the Night cleared the bar for coloratura gymnastics, and Papagena's bagworm costume also induced smothered chuckles.  When Tamino played his flute a few creepy critters came out that conjured up images of Michael Jackson's Thriller movie.  Something that looked like reptilian roadkill also dragged its carcass across the stage.  Each production is always a bit different and unique, so any version is fun to see.  On the way out of the cloak room somebody knocked over a light metal pole and I was lucky enough to get hit in the head with it, but luckily there was no damage done to me or the pole. Here are some pics from Sonny B. I will post mine in another entry.

Gotta have ice cream at half time!
