May 21, 2012 Sendai-Hiwaki
Midori was kind enough to take us to the grave site in Sendai. We didn't want to leave the bones sitting in an empty house for the traditional 49 Buddhist days, and since we did not have any connection with the Nishi Honganji Temple and its priests, we could feel free to just put the bones into our crypt in the grave site. Sonny B came along to check on our Sendai property which is being rented as a parking lot to a creep who is a year behind in payment. It is a good time to end the contract with him and see if anyone else (who will actually pay rent) is interested in using the property.

We made a brief stop in Hiwaki. Here are some pictures of deceased relatives. I have only met the lady on the lower left, Great Grandma Kuma Bachan.

Hmm, it looks like someone is drying bamboo shoot leaves to make Chimaki, a traditional seasonal treat. The chef is none other than...

Mr. Higashi, soon to be added as a member of the family. Hiwaki sure looks nice with a man around the house!! We all hope that he stays there a good long while!!

Some of the chimaki got sent to Nagoya. Dotter says it is excellent!
