Landslides in Hiroshima, volcanic eruptions in Nagano... I think we have had our share of natural disasters for awhile.
The eruption of the Ontake volcano is the worst volcanic disaster in recent postwar history with a present death toll of about 50 with a few people still unaccounted for.
