2/27/2015 Jindaiji Temple
We have a new season and new sights! The Rakuyaki Pottery Shop is now selling miniature Girls' Festival dolls.
I actually have a set similar to the one below that I got almost 40 years ago when we lived in Chofu, which is a bit closer to Jindaiji than where we are now.
February 3rd is an event called Setsubun. One of the family members (Dad?) dons a devil mask and the rest of the family throws beans at him to drive him out. These are some little devil clay bells that would make cute decorations, but a picture is cheaper and takes up less room. (^-^)
Above is an adorable little vase with festival dolls, but again, I really didn't need it and let a picture suffice.
Spring flowers and a soba (buckwheat noodle) shop.
Here is a fellow cutting the soba noodles from dough. There are many soba shops in the Jindaiji area. You can see people lined up at another shop across the street reflected in the window. This shop is actually quite nice and you hardly ever need to wait outside.
There is a water wheel just outside the shop with carp living underneath.
This is a lantern stand and I took the picture because there is a rabbit.

Whachamacallit - This entire cluster of flowers would fit on your thumbnail.
Mitsumata
This is called Jinchoge, and when you smell the aroma you know that spring has finally arrived!
