Oct. 27, 2012  Tama Reien Cemetery

Today's "Go Somewhere" was Tamareien Cemetery, located a few stations past Chofu. This is the largest municipal cemetery in the country, and if you would like to know more about it, click here.

The most interesting grave was that of Okamoto Taro, who was quite an interesting artist. There is an art museum with a collection of his works in Kawasaki City. He must have designed his own gravestone, and that of his father as well. His mother has something more classic, but DH says that no one has a statue of Buddha or Kannon or whatever on their graves.

DH is checking the location of the next famous deceased individual.

This was an interesting crypt, actually new but built to look old.

Here is another crypt that I found interesting. The dried flowers tell us that no one has been here in awhile. Doesn't that lock have an air of finality about it?

This grave is tended better, and the fall pampas grass adds a touch of autumn scenery.

It's too bad there is no sound with this - howwwwwl, screeeeeeeam!!

I thought these ground cherries were pretty.
